I launched shanegoad.com in the fall of 2012 as an 18-month long project. The site was originally intended to be an 18-month writing project and to provide an online presence to a job seeker new to the Washington, DC area. That was over 4 years ago. Now, it’s time for a face-lift. This is the 3rd design I’ve used for this site, so I call it v.3. If you’re looking at WordPress templates, you’ll recognize it as the Rebalance theme.
The first version of the site featured a grey background, then an aqua background, and now a sky blue (for now). I’m torn on a background of color or keeping it with black text on a white background.
I like this template as it includes links to social media easily visible near the top of the page (above the fold, borrowing a print media term). I’ve also included a link to my radio site, jakeonradio.com, which displays my work as Jake West. Much of my social media effort in the last year or so has been on my Jake properties. Not only am I refreshing this site, but jakeonradio.com has a new layout as well.
