iHeartMedia, Washington, DC October 2013 – November 2016
On-Air Personality/Assistant Program Director
As Jake West, I created 15+ blog posts per week, highlighted by single post on WMZQ.com attracting 2.28+ million views and 2.12+ million uniques. Wrote 70 Facebook posts per week. Shared most-visited post of the year on WASHFM.com in both 2015 and 2016, attracting more than 100,000 and 40,000 unique visitors, respectively. Used Google Analytics and worked with digital team to monitor web traffic, identify effective posts, and develop strategies for future content. Heard on-air (with digital content posts) at various stations in both Washington, DC and Baltimore.
Cumulus Media, Grand Rapids, MI September 2011 – March 2012
Program Director/On-Air Personality
Grew mobile marketing database roughly 18% to nearly 11,000 members. Designed and wrote weekly email newsletter sent to thousands of recipients. Analyzed metrics to grow engagement with digital platforms. Initiated an overhaul of website content, layout, and strategy. Responsible for troubleshooting issues in a fast-paced environment.
Led my team through a corporate ownership change shortly after arrival. Maintained focus of my staff despite high turnover in other departments, including local management. Helped strengthen a brand engaged in direct format competition with one of the strongest radio stations in the nation. On-air listenership and website traffic both increased greatly during my tenure.
Citadel Broadcasting, Muncie, IN April 2005 – September 2011
Program Director/On-Air Personality
Wrote, edited, and approved copy appearing on station website, social media, and email/mobile marketing. Reviewed analytics to evaluate and grow website traffic, while also creating detailed reports used by both sales and programming teams. Led website redesign, including search engine optimization, resulting in traffic growth. Anchored and wrote 10 daily newscasts. In 2006, I became the first air personality in the market to maintain a blog to complement my show. In 2009, began podcasting both online-exclusive and best-of segments with my morning show The Morning Brew.
I progressively added responsibility, ascending to Program Director position by being a creative thinker and hard worker. A mix of strategy, good hiring, and the desire to consistently find solutions to problems led to increases in audience and revenue. Traffic to website and with mobile marketing platform routinely outpaced vastly larger markets.
